30 Days of Songs: Day 18 (two days later)
2011/03/19
I’m realizing that I mis-clicked some button when I wrote these posts, and so they didn’t publish this weekend while I was away.
Day 18-a song that you could play over and over again
According to my iTunes play log, it’s “Great Pumpkin Waltz.”
Funny…I haven’t watched this cartoon since I was a kid. I always miss it every year.
Or, as Charlie Brown would say: “I got a rock.”
I love this melancholy tune…it speaks of autumn, the shortening of days and the encroaching chill of winter to come. Yet there’s a lightness to the melody, thanks to the waltz rhythm. It’s a quintessential Peanuts tune, combining the innocence of youth with the kids’ paradoxical worldly awareness (or, from Charlie Brown’s likely POV, world-weariness).
